There’s another crop of new college graduates entering the Wisconsin workforce. Meanwhile laid off workers may be applying for the same openings.

Laura Kestner, Marquette University’s Career Services Director, says expect the entry level job to go to the new grad. She says that’s because they bring more enthusiasm to a new job where as a more experienced worker may look at it as a step backward.

Also the new grad will be more comfortable with the pay scale.

In a changing business and communication landscape, Kester says the recent graduates have the tech skills and social media savvy that seasoned workers may lack.

She cites the annual Trends in Recruiting Report from Michigan State University the strongest entry level hiring is in the sectors of retail, financial services, IT and even some manufacturing.
