Despite the loss of hundreds of General Motors jobs in Janesville, it's not all bad news for the economy in Rock County. Beloit city manager Larry Arft says the city is getting a new food processing company. Nampa, Idaho based Hydroblend is moving a research and development center and manufacturing plant to Beloit.
Arft says the operation will bring about 90 jobs to Beloit, with the company initially occupying an existing 40-thousand square foot building, eventually building an additional 60-thousand square foot building on an adjacent lot, as well as adding a rail spur. Arft says pay will range from $12 an hour for the manufacturing jobs, to $26 an hour for the research and development positions.
