Officials with the state Office of the Commissioner of Insurance say two new companies have applied to sell coverage to Wisconsin residents through the federal government’s health purchasing exchanges. If approved, it would bring the total number of companies offering plans through the Obamacare program to 15 in Wisconsin.
According to a list released by OCI on Tuesday, all 13 companies that sold Obamacare coverage in the first year of the exchange wish to continue doing so. The two additional products are from Managed Health Services and All Savers.
Both companies must get federal approval and secure contract before they can be listed on the exchange. If they’re approved, they can sell coverage online from November 15th through February 15th.
In addition, OCI says ten insurers plan to offer coverage to small businesses in year two of Obama-care; one more than a year ago.
