The price of gasoline in Wisconsin is up almost a dollar from this time last year. AAA-Wisconsin spokesperson Beth Mosher says gas prices in the state have climbed almost $.10 in the past week with average price about $2.70 a gallon.

With bitter cold temperatures lately it’s important not to let the needle go too low. “We just don’t want to your gas lines to freeze up with no gas in there;” warns Mosher who says all vehicles should maintain at least a quarter tank.

The cost at the pump is part of a nationwide trend that stems from a higher price of oil than normal this time of year. Whether prices will continue to climb Mosher says with so many factors involved, no one can say for certain.
