An official with the Walker administration is accused of violating state campaign finance laws. Insurance Commissioner Ted Nickel and nine other donors to Scott Walker’s campaign for governor are accused of breaking the state’s campaign finance law. The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign filed a complaint with the Government Accountability Board. It alleges donations made between July 1st of 2008 and the end of 2010 exceeded the $10,000 limit allowed to be given during campaigns. Nickel, who was tapped as insurance commissioner in January, gave $10,255 to Walker’s campaign in three donations between October 2008 and August. Nickel’s violation was not the largest – contributions by Michael White of River Hills totaled $15,000 – exceeding the limit by $5,000.
