A state lawmaker wants to create a “no contact” rule for members of the State Elections Board. State Representative Dave Travis (D-Waunakee) says action is clearly needed, after the recent controversy over a Doyle campaign attorney lobbying board members on a campaign funding decision.

Travis is proposing a “no contact” rule, which would prevent parties with an issue pending before the board from discussing it with members outside of official hearings. The rule would prevent contact with board members by interested parties who have any case pending before the body. Travis says the rule would be similar to what's already in place for Judges and the Public Service Commission.
