Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines canceled 21 more flights yesterday to make sure its planes complied with a federal safety order. That brings to 26 the number of flights canceled since Wednesday causing 3600 passengers to change their travel plans.

It began as part of a federal safety mandate for wire harnesses for airlines. The FAA inspected Midwest's MD-80 aircraft, and found them to be okay. But the company later did its own inspections just to make sure.

Midwest spokesman Mike Brophy says all MD-80's have been inspected and no more flights should be canceled due to the wire harness issue.

"We made minor adjustments and I would stress the word minor and got them back into service as quickly as possible."

Brophy emphasizes that never was there a danger regarding the safety of flights.
