Wisconsin health officials have now confirmed five cases of enterovirus in the state, a respiratory and stomach ailment that has hospitalized hundreds of kids around the nation.
Since the cases are confirmed through the U.S Centers for Disease Control, state health officials say they do not have information about the locations, ages, and genders of those who have contracted the virus.

Wisconsin said last week that a child in Door County was the first in the state to be confirmed with the virus. It causes symptoms that can be either mild or severe. The more dangerous symptoms include wheezing and breathing difficulties. Less severe cases may include muscle aches, fever, coughs, and runny noses.

Nationally, the CDC has confirmed over 500 cases of enterovirus 68 in all but eight states. There have also been four deaths among those infected with the virus.
