A new poll shows Barack Obama with a sizeable lead in Wisconsin.

A survey taken earlier this week by the UW-Madison Political Science Department shows Democrat Barack Obama with a double-digit lead over Republican John McCain in Wisconsin.

Pollster Charles Franklin says the survey also finds both parties are united. He says there was no evidence that Hillary Clinton supporters are unhappy with Obama or that strong conservatives objected to John McCain's candidacy.

Overall, 50-percent of Badger State voters say they prefer Obama compared to 37, who like McCain. Franklin says he expects the race to tighten up in the months ahead.
