In Kaukauna Thursday, Democrat Barack Obama promised not to raise taxes on families making less than a quarter-million-dollars a year. The Illinois senator told 2500 people at a town hall meeting that he'll do away with the tax cuts President Bush put in place – cuts he said helped mostly the rich. Obama also accused Republicans of misrepresenting his views.

State G-O-P chairman Reince Priebus said Obama's tax-and-spend plans would be an absolute disaster for Wisconsin – and virtually all of his proposals come with higher taxes. Earlier this week, the non-partisan Tax Policy Center said Obama's economic plan would give three times as many tax cuts to the middle class than McCain's proposals. Obama said plans reward work – while McCain's plans reward wealth. Among other things, Obama wants mortgage credits for homeowners, and various tax credits for employees. His campaign says they'd help three million Wisconsin workers, and around 117-thousand seniors.
