The Green Bay Packers are using their spring OTA workouts as a chance to get their

Bryan Bulaga

Bryan Bulaga

reconfigured offensive line settled into their new roles.

Every player on the offensive line is shifting to a new spot, except center Evan Dietrich-Smith.

The change came about four weeks ago, but it was put into lace this week during team OTA workouts.

Mike McCarthy said Bryan Bulaga is his best tackle and he wants to shift him to the left side.  Bulaga, along with guard Josh Sitton, are making the move from right to left to help protect Aaron Rodgers blind side.

It also means an adjustment from those offensive lineman that worked on the left side and now have to shift to the right.  Like guard T.J. Lang moving from left guard to right guard.  Marshall Newhouse, Don Barclay and Derek Sherrod will battle among others, for the starting job at right tackle.

The Packers want their best offensive lineman on the left side, protecting Aaron Rodgers blind side.  But Aaron Rodgers was also sacked 51 times last season, more than any quarterback in the league.

Bulaga has recovered from a hip injury that saw him go to the injured reserve list last Nov. 12.  He spent the entire offseason in Green Bay.

The offensive linemen are glad the Packers made the move now, giving them plenty of time to adjust and get comfortable going into training camp.

The Packers are also preparing their lineman to play elsewhere in case of injuries.  History has proven that injuries will happen and the Packers had better be ready.
