Only in Major League Baseball could the following happen!

Milwaukee Brewers left hander Chris Capuano lost 12-straight games and finished 5-12 on the season.  Capuano finished the season with a 5.10 ERA in 29 games (25 starts).  The Brewers as a team lost the final 22 games that Capuano appeared in.

In a perfect world, Capuano would have given some of his salary back.  Instead, he and the Brewers avoided salary arbitration yesterday by agreeing to a 1-year, $3.75 million contract.  That's a $500,000 raise over last year.

How does that happen?  A $500,000 raise for being one of the worst pitchers in baseball last year?  What are the Brewers thinking?  Does anyone think the Brewers would have lost the case had they gone to arbitration?  What leg could Capuano possibly have to stand on?

Parents, get your kids into baseball.  Especially if they're left handed and have a pulse.  That's apparently the only requirements necessary to get a $500,000 pay raise.

The Brewers do still have two other arbitration eligible players, shortstop J.J. Hardy and pitcher Dave Bush.
