Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Deputy Aaron Rauls treated Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Colin Cole just like anyone else going 23 miles over the speed limit: he issued him a speeding ticket. Chief Deputy Mark Strand says Rauls did the right thing when he stopped Cole on Highway 151 in the Town of Waupun for going 88 miles per hour. "First of all, the deputies have full discretion on whether to issue citations or warnings," Strand says. "Obviously, in this situation, Deputy Rauls felt that 88 miles an hour was a citation."
According to Rauls' report, Cole suggested that Green Bay law enforcement agencies practice a little more discretion when he's stopped in Title Town for speeding. "Apparently, he did make the comment that he does get stopped in Green Bay, and doesn't recieve citations," says Strand. It wasn't until after the deputy returned to the Sheriff's Department that he learned more about the Packer player he'd pulled over.
