Green Bay Packers fans have a new way to get into Lambeau Field. Packers President Mark Murphy cut the ribbon Thursday on the American Family Insurance gate, located on the northeast side of the atrium. The entrance is expected to make it easier for fans to enter the stadium on game days.
The centerpiece of the entrance is a 50-foot high replica of the Lombardi Trophy. Murphy says “we really felt we needed a beacon. We wanted to draw people into the atrium from this east side, and with the size of the building it really had to be a large enough structure to attract people.”
Murphy says the trophy is visible from the pro-shop, atrium, and parts of the Packers Hall of Fame. He thinks it will be a great photo opportunity for visiting fans, and also points to the team’s historic ties to the trophy, which is named for one of the Packers’ most revered coaches.
