Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.  The loss meant the Green Bay Packers have dropped back to back home games for the first time since the 2008 season.

The crux if problem is a defense that couldn’t get off the field in the fourth quarter and has struggled all season in creating turnovers.

Last Monday night, the Bears put together an 18-play, 80-yard drive that ate up most of the fourth quarter.  Fast forward to yesterday and this time the Eagles killed off the final 9:32 of the game and won going away.

The Packers defense entered the game with a top 5 NFL ranking against the run.  Yesterday, LeSean McCoy gained 155 yards on 25 carries.  The Eagles picked up 204 rushing yards on the day.

It’s also back to back weeks of missed tackles.  At least 10 of them for the Packers defense yesterday after the problem jumped out last week against the Bears.

As bad as the run defense was, the pass defense was just as bad.  Nick Foles completed 12 of 18 for 228 yards, 3 touchdowns and no picks.  His quarterback rating was 149.3.

The Packers fell to 5-4 with the loss.  That puts them in 3rd place in the NFC North, by virtue of NFL tiebreaker.

Would Mike McCarthy consider firing his defensive coordinator (Dom Capers), or another defensive assistant?  If that type of move is going to happen, it’s going to be today.

The Packers are back on the road this week.  They’ll take on the New York Giants.
