The Packers want to see what they have in their potential go-to running back who signed with the Packers about a week ago. A solid outing for Benson will likely give him a chance to open the regular season as the Packers number one tailback.
The Packers have had a good battle during training camp at corner and safety. Jerron McMillian, M.D. Jennings and Anthony Levine are all looking to score points with the coaches at safety, while Casey Hayward, Sam Shields and Jarrett Bush are all battling for time at corner.

The Packers’ starters will play the first half against the Bengals tonight. It’s their likely final tune up for the regular season opener against San Francisco on September 9.
The Packers say backup quarterback Graham Harrell’s job is not in jeopardy. But Harrell has had a shaky preseason, completing just 27 of 51 passes (52.9%), posting a passer ratting of 55.6. Others believe Harrell is on the bubble and needs a good performance in the final two weeks to secure his spot on the 53 man roster.
The Packers struggled to rush the passer last season. Only two NFL teams produced fewer sacks in 2011. They selected rookies Jerel Worthy and Mike Daniels in the draft to help bolster their defensive line. So far, there’s been little to write home about. The Packers have two preseason games left to show some improvement going into the season.
The Packers are off to a 0-2 start. They’d like to pick up their first preseason win but most importantly, stay healthy with the regular season approaching.
