Mike McCarthyThe Green Bay Packers 2010 regular season schedule was released on Tuesday and Packers coach Mike McCarthy has his sights set on the first four games.

The Packers open the regular season at Philadelphia on September 12, play their home opener the next week against Buffalo on September 19.  The Packers follow that up with a game at Chicago on Monday night, September 27 and return home to play Detroit on October 3.

In comments released by the Packers, McCarthy said, “You can potentially anticipate certain stretches that look like a challenge, but really our focus will be on those first four weeks.  That’s something we’ll spend extra time on from a preparation standpoint with the coaches.”

The Packers will play four times in prime time.  After the Monday, September 27 contest at Chicago, they’ll get three Sunday night games.  The Packers will host Minnesota on Sunday night, October 24th, Dallas on Sunday November 7th and at New England on Sunday, December 19th.

The Packers bye week won’t come until week 10 (Nov. 14), the last possible date for a bye and the latest bye the Packers have ever had.

The Packers will then close out the regular season with back-to-back home games, Sunday, December 26 against the New York Giants (3:15pm) and Sunday, January 2 against the Chicago Bears (noon).  The Packers will play two of their 4 games in December at Lambeau Field, but if you count the January 2nd home game, it means the Packers will play 3 of the last 5 at home.
