Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy has been named the NFL Rookie of the
Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.
Lacy received 45 of 93 votes cast, easily out-distancing Chargers receiver Keenan Allen (24 votes) for the award.
The Packers second round pick out of Alabama was the fourth back taken in the draft, finishing his rookie season with 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Lacy fumbled just once this past season. It came in the opener at San Francisco.
Lacy is expected to win the AP Rookie of the Year award when it’s announced Feb. 1, the night before the Super Bowl.
Lacy broke John Brockington’s 1971 team rookie rushing record.
No other Packers made the all-rookie team.
