Tramon Williams leads the Green Bay Packers in interceptions with four.  His 16 passes defensed also leads  the way.  Williams is 27-years old and entering the prime of his NFL career.  The Packers took all those factors into account and rewarded Williams with a 4-year contract extension worth a reported $33-million.

The deal puts Williams 14th among all cornerbacks in average per year ($8.27 million).  It also makes Williams the 4th highest paid Packer, behind Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson and Greg Jennings.

Williams went undrafted.  He signed with Houston in 2006 as a free agent out of 2006.  After being released in August of that year, Williams signed on to the Packers practice squad and working his way up the ladder.

Williams had been playing for the restricted-free agent tender of $3.043 million this season.

Williams hasn’t allowed a single touchdown pass this season.  He’s committed just one penalty and allowed only two passes of 20 yards or more.
