The Minnesota Vikings are getting ready to face the unbeaten Green Bay Packers in a NFC North battle at the Metrodome on Sunday and they’re considering a quarterback change.

Donovan McNabb statistically is coming off of his best game, 19 of 24, but he has just four touchdown passes in the first six games and only three pass completions longer than 35 yards.

Rookie Christian Ponder relieved McNabb in the fourth quarter on Sunday night at Chicago with the Vikings losing 39-10.  On Monday, coach Leslie Frazier said he’ll discuss the situation with his staff over the next two days and decide by Wednesday who starts this week against the Packers.

Two of the Vikings next three games come against the defending Super Bowl champion Packers, but Frazier said the quality of the opponent won’t factor into the evaluation.  Frazier said he doesn’t want to flip-flop from week to week, so if Ponder gets the call, then it’ll likely be his job for the rest of the season.

Ponder was Minnesota’s first-round draft pick this year, taken 12th overall out of Florida Sate.

The Vikings go into Sunday’s game against the Packers with a 1-5 record.
