I still can't believe the Packers just yanked Daryn Colledge out of the starting rotation at guard after he struggled in his first game against the San Diego Chargers.  Certainly coach Mike McCarthy knows what he's doing but I'm wondering if I missed something.

Colledge was selected in the 2nd round of this years draft out of Boise State for one reason.  The Packers wanted to start him at one of the left guard spot.  Colledge ran with the one's from the very first minicamp and we were never led to believe that he hadn't been doing a good job.  He practice with the starters from the start of training camp and again, no word that the young man was slipping.  Then, in his first ever NFL game, he doesn't play well and that's it, the switch is on.

I don't get it.  Certainly Colledge did look slow and unsure of himself, but one poor performance and you're out.  Perhaps it's a motivational move, something to get Colledge to understand the importance of being ready to play and then following through.

Jason Spitz moved from right guard to left guard to accomodate fifth round pick Tony Moll (pronounced Maul) on the right side.  The next test is Saturday night against Atlanta at Lambeau Field.  McCarthy said he wants to have his offensive line set after this game.  Good luck with that.  You may need it.
