Josh Sitton looks to create opportunities on the ground for Cedric Benson this Thursday

Thursday presents an opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to avenge last week’s loss by taking on a fierce rival in the Chicago Bears.  With such a short week to prepare, major fixes will not be a concern for the team according to center Jeff Saturday.  He says the Packers need to execute better in order to get a win tonight.

One major execution the Packers must improve on is their running game.  Anyone who saw week one’s game can agree that the Packers need to do a better job running the ball.

Preseason acquisition Cedric Benson was held to 18 yards on nine attempts against the 49ers, while the entire team was held to 45 yards rushing.  Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the team in rushing with 27 yards on five attempts.  Head coach Mike McCarthy says this two yard average will not cut it and production will be important.

With the Chicago Bears coming off a strong defensive performance against first overall draft pick Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, Thursday is important for the Packers to show off their running game and take down a strong rival.
