The Green Bay Packers are off to their best start in 45 years. Their 31-14 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, gave the Packers a 9-1 record. The last time the Packers had a better start was 10-0 in 1962.
Brett Favre tossed three touchdown passes, two of those to tightend Donald Lee, to lead the Packers to the win. Favre's three touchdown strikes makes it the 62nd time in his career he's tossed at least three touchdown passes in a game. That ties him with Dan Marino for the all-time record.
The Packers got the games first touchdown in the first quarter when Tramon Williams returned a pooch punt 94 yards for a touchdown. It ties him with Mark Lee for the 2nd longest punt return for touchdown in team history. Former Packers Steve Odom holds the record with a 95 yard return.
Coupled with Detroit's home loss to the New York Giants, the Packers now have a 3-game lead in the NFC North. The two teams will square off on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit.
The Packers have six games left in the regular season with 4 of the 6 coming on the road. But a win on Thanksgiving Day over Detroit and the Packers will have all but clinched the NFC North with 5-games still left to play in the regular season.
