The Green Bay Packers have claimed linebacker Diyral Briggs off waivers from Denver and signed linebacker Matt Wilhelm.  The Packers placed DE Mike Neal and LB Brady Poppinga on injured reserve and released LB Maurice Simpkins.

Wilhelm is an 8-year pro out of Ohio State.  He has played in 82 career games with 22 starts with San Diego and San Francisco.

Briggs is a first-year player out of Bowling Green who entered the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers as a non-drafted free agent in May 2009.  He appeared in four games for the 49ers in 2009 and one this season before being released in September.  Briggs was then signed to Denver’s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster, and he appeared in one game for the Broncos.
