The Green Bay Packers were hoping to put together another solid performance against Cincinnati on Monday night to get them ready for the regular season opener on Sept. 10th against the Chicago Bears. It didn't happen. The Packers fell behind early with a couple of turnovers and things got out of hand from there as the Bengals steamrolled to a 48-17 win. Carson Palmer returned to the Bengals lineup for the first time since going down with a major knee injury against Pittsburgh in the playoffs. He responded with three touchdown passes in a little less then half the game. Brett Favre had an early interception and a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Ahman Green got the start for the Packers but rushed only 8 times for a total of 18 yards. Defensively, the Packers couldn't get off the field on third down. The Bengals put together 220 yards and 34 points by halftime. The Packers only scores came on Brett Favre's 17-yard touchdown pass to Donald Driver in the second quarter, Dave Rayner's 30 yard field goal in the third and Samkon Gado's 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The Packers fell to 1-2 in the preseason and will close it out on Friday afternoon against Tennessee.
