After deciding to keep both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien on the 53-man roster, Mike McCarthy is going with Flynn as his number-2 quarterback, going with experience in the opener on Thursday night in Seattle.

Flynn posted a 2-2 record for the Green Bay Packers last season when Aaron Rodgers was out with a collarbone injury.

The Packers knew there was a great chance that they would have lost Tolzien to another NFL team if they had exposed him to waivers.  Tolzien put up better numbers during training camp, but for now, the Packers value Flynn’s experience and Tolzien will serve as the number 3.

The Packers returned to the practice field on Sunday and will work in pads today.
