The Green Bay Packers mailed season ticket invoices last week and set a March 31st deadline for payment.

That’s two weeks before income taxes are due and about six weeks earlier than the deadline the team normally sets to collect for season tickets.

The Packers say the change was motivated by the expectation that there might be more season-ticket holders giving up their tickets, and not by a need to collect ticket money interest earlier than usual.

Are you a season ticket holder?  Do you believe that line of *#$@&@+!?

Packers Ticket Director Mark Wagner said the team had 192 names come off the waiting list last year and they ran really late in processing those changes.

The Packers announced earlier that ticket prices would go up between $8 and $11 per ticket, depending on seat location.

So you heard Wagner’s (Mark) reasoning for the earlier date, then Packers CEO Mark Murphy said the league’s current labor situation makes it imperative that the team remain competitive financially.  That sounds a lot like a plan to get people’s money faster, allowing the Packers to not only draw more interest, but draw it sooner.

The Packers have the product and if you don’t like it, you can always jump off board.  Some will do that, but most won’t.  I only ask that the organization just come forward and say we want your ticket money six weeks sooner to help the organization take in more funds in a tough economy.  Don’t throw the old season ticket holder processing excuse at us because nobodies buying it.

Is Mark Wagner really that busy that the Packers need our ticket money six weeks early?  I think you all know the answer to that!
