Sarah Palin was at the Walmart in Rib Mountain for an Thursday in which the media was kept at arm’s length. The former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate signed copies of her new book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy”, for over 400 fans that lined up inside the retailer from the layaway desk around to the front, and then weaving back and forth through several aisles.

Palin’s only Wisconsin book stop so far gave her a chance to sign a lot of books, but don’t look for many pictures. Guests were asked to check their cameras and cellphones at the door with security staff.

Even the media had difficulty getting pictures, as several newspaper and television reporters were kept in a guarded room away from Palin and the crowd for much of the event. No interviews were granted, and when the short allotted photo opportunity was over, reporters and photographers were escorted out of the store.

Palin did stay about an hour longer than planned, and might have stayed even longer if they hadn’t run out of books.
