A couple thousand gay-rights activists marched from the Capitol Square to the UW’s Library Mall for the annual Gay Pride Parade.  One participant explained, “It’s a good way for the community to get together and celebrate, being out, being happy with yourselves, being comfortable.”

Comfortable they were with lots of affection being shown among same-sex couples during the march and rally.

Another man described the event, “It means that were loud and were proud and were feeling equal.” The common theme was “Treat us fairly.”

The parade Sunday was a culmination of a series of events focusing on LGBT pride including beginning with a commitment ceremony Thursday at the State Capitol rotunda.
