Parents left Green Bay's East High School thankful they were there to talk about school safety instead of attending funerals for students.
Hundreds packed the East high auditorium searching for answers. They wanted assurances that someone with a knife or a gun could never get into the school.
Others offered advice. Admonishing parents that diversity and the acceptance of people with differences starts at home. That's a reference to the statement that one of the 17-year old suspects in the alleged massacre plot was constantly harassed because he weighed 300 pounds and had a learning disability.
School Superintendent Dan Nerad told the parents he believes the safety policies in place are good ones but nothing is perfect. There are no guarantees that nothing will ever happen because of the nature of the society in which we live.
Most parents seemed satisfied as they left the meeting that everything that can be done to protect their children is being done.
