Just when the Milwaukee Brewers needed a starter to go deep in the game, along comes Manny Parra. The young lefty was terrible in his 4-innings of work, allowing all 10 runs in a 10-3 Brewers loss to the Florida Marlins. Parra surrendered 11 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. His record fell to 3-7 and his ERA climbed to 6.75 in 11 starts.
The Brewers are now 3-8 when Parra pitches and 27-14 when the other four starters pitch. In his last three outings, Parra is 0-3 with a robust 13.50 ERA.
The Brewers did catch a break when Mike Burns, who was called up from Triple A Nashville earlier in the day to replace Jorge Julio who was released. Burns worked four innings of scoreless relief, allowing just 4-hits.
Corey Hart clubbed a 2-run homer in the 9th, once the outcome was already well decided.
Cody Ross clubbed a grand slam and Dan Uggla became the fastest second baseman to reach 100 home runs in his career with his blast in the second.
The Brewers have dropped the first two games in the 4-game series. Game 3 is tonight. Braden Looper (5-3) is scheduled to start for the Brewers. He's 5-2 lifetime against the Marlins.
