There’s been some moving pieces in the University of Wisconsin’s 2015 football recruiting class, but new coach Paul Chryst has been busy on the recruiting trail since being hired in Madison and will unveil a solid class during a news conference this afternoon.

Since Gary Andersen left for Oregon State, as many as 8-players de-committed from their original commitments.  But the leftovers still have plenty of promise and Chryst has been busy adding to it.

Chryst went out and locked up highly touted Hoover, Alabama running back Bradrick Shaw and brought a couple of Pittsburgh recruits with him to Madison to fill in some of the blanks.

Chryst has had success with developing tight ends and that bodes well for incoming freshman Kyle Penniston who is one of the top finds in this 2015 class.  Penniston is one of a handful of players that enrolled early and will have a chance to contribute right away.

Another top recruit in this class is quarterback Austin Kafentzis from Sandy, Utah.  He made it known right away that the coaching change wouldn’t change his commitment to Wisconsin.  Now he’ll have the chance to benefit from Chryst, who has done a great job developing quarterbacks as well.

Scout.com ranks Wisconsin’s 2015 class 30th in the nation and 4th in the Big Ten Conference.  The class address depth issues at offensive line, running back and linebacker.

Five players in this class hail from Wisconsin:  QB Zach Baun (Brown Deer), QB Alec Ingold (Bay Port), OL Jon Dietzen (Seymour), DE David Pfaff (Homestead) and LB Jake Whalen (Wausau West).  In this group, Baun and Ingold are both coming to Madison as linebackers.

Paul Chryst is scheduled to address his 2015 class at a 2:30pm press conference this afternoon.
