Buster Posey went 5 for 5 while driving in three runs and scoring three more as the San Francisco Giants piled up 19 hits in a 13-2 route of the Milwaukee Brewers at AT&T Park last night.

Wily Peralta has been rocked now in back to back starts.  Last night, he was pulled after three innings when his pitch count reached 80 and his runs allowed count reached six.

Marco Estrada relieved Peralta and gave up two runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Peralta (15-9) failed for the second straight outing to win his 16th game of the season.  After retiring leadoff man Angel Pagan, the Giants collected four straight singles and the Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

The Brewers scored in the second when Lyle Overbay’s ground ball scored Jonathan Lucroy from third.  Lucroy reached base by leading off with his major-league-leading 45th double.

In the bottom of the second, Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong singled to right during a 9-pitch at bat, then moved to third on Angel Pagan’s double off the center field wall.  Singles by Buster Posey and Hunter Pence made it 5-1.

Pagan drove in a run with a single in the third and Peralta’s night would be over.

It’s the second straight poor start for Peralta, who allowed eight runs and seven hits in five innings in a loss to the Pirates on July 23rd.

It’s the third straight loss for the Brewers, but the St. Louis Cardinals have followed suit by dropped three straight as well.  The Cardinals still trail the Brewers by 1 1/2 games in the race for the Central Division title.  But the Pittsburgh Pirates have won three straight games and now trail the Brewers by just three games.

Mike Fiers (4-1, 1.54) pitches game two of the series for the Brewers tonight (8:05pm).  Jake Peavy (2-4, 3.18) gets the start for the Giants.
