Shots are fired and a dog is killed during an armed home invasion in Beloit.

Beloit police say they responded to reports of shots fired at a home just before 7:30 on Wednesday night. When officers arrived they discovered that an armed home invasion occurred. Masked gunmen had reportedly entered the home in an attempt to rob the residents, and gun fire ensued.

Police say no people were injured, however a pit bull that lived at the home was killed.

The suspects fled before officers arrived. Authorities says they don’t think it was a random act of violence.

This incident remains under investigation.
