Following the FDA's approval of the drug for non-prescription sales earlier this year, Lisa Boyce with Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin says Plan B is now available across the state. Exact numbers are not available for the number of stores selling the drug, but Boyce says the organization has found it in several areas.

The drug is available without a prescription, but those looking to buy it will still have to speak with a pharmacist first. They'll also have to show proof of age, since the drug is only approved for sale without a prescription to those 18 and older.

Boyce says they'll be watching for if the "behind the counter" status hurts access to the drug, since there is a risk pharmacists who object to the use of Plan B may try to block women from buying it. Similar cases have popped up in the state with birth control in the past.

Plan B carries a price tag of around $40. Boyce says that could make it difficult for some women to purchase it, especially since many insurance plans won't cover it if they don't have a prescription.
