Federal officials will investigate a plane that crashed in the backyard of a home in northern Wisconsin. The single engine aircraft went down in Marshfield just a half mile from a runway. The crash burned the back wall of a house but none of the residents were hurt.

Tyrone Narlock, a volunteer fireman who lives across the street from the crash site, was first on the scene. He called 911 after hearing two loud "bangs" minutes apart then seeing an "orange glow."

A Marshfield airport spokesman said all indications were that the plane was landing late Saturday night and its tail numbers were burned beyond recognition

Although authorities would not release the identities of the victims, WFRV TV in Green Bay is reporting those killed in the crash were President of the Junior Gamblers hockey team, James Edwards, along with his two sons.

Investigators from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are due on the scene Monday.
