A 44 year-old Manitowoc area woman who killed three members of a family while driving drunk has struck a plea deal with prosecutors. Manitowoc County District Attorney Mark Rohrer has recommended that Becky Holly serve 20 years in prison plus 18 years of extended supervision for her role in the deaths of 79 year-old Lawrence Gerroll, his 75 year-old wife Lou, and their 48 year-old daughter Joan.
Holly pleaded no contest to three counts of negligent homicide, while seven other charges were dropped.
Holly was driving on a rural road last October when her van left the roadway and struck the three, who were standing on a lawn watching a roofing project. Family members say that they are pleased with the deal, while Rohrer says this plea agreement is the first step in beginning of closure for the family. Holly’s jury trial was scheduled to start Tuesday. She’ll remain under house arrest until she’s sentenced December 4th.
