A Rock County murder trail scheduled to run two weeks was cut short by a plea deal. Rock County District Attorney David O'Leary said he had to weigh the chances of getting a not-guilty verdict in the case of Robert Brooks, with the expectations of the victim's family. Brooks pleaded guilty Monday to first degree reckless homicide and other charges in the death of Julaine McGuire, and O'Leary says he wants to lock Brooks put away for good. "I will be arguing to lock him up for the rest of his life," O'Learly said. "I will be arguing for the maximum sentence." McGuire, of Janesville, was murdered in a downtown Beloit office last year. Brooks is scheduled to be sentenced on December 21st.
