A Minnesota man accused of having sexual contact with a teenage girl outside Appleton’s Fox River Mall apparently is going to change his plea in the case. He was scheduled to stand trial next week, but 36-year-old Jamie Sames is set to appear in Outagamie County court Friday for a plea hearing.
Sames, of Shakopee, Minnesota, is facing charges of sexual assault of a child, child enticement and impersonating a police officer for the incident last March. He’s accused of confronting a 13-year-old girl about shoplifting and then taking her behind a dumpster. It’s not known if there’s a plea deal in place, and any details likely won’t be revealed until the hearing. Sames initially entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
Judge John DesJardins dealt a blow to the defense earlier this week, denying a motion that challenged the way Grand Chute police showed surveillance video to the girl. Prosecutors say she picked out the suspect, and he was later identified as Sames.
