Charges have been filed against three individuals involved in a sophisticated embezzlement scheme that targeted former employees of the Fond du Lac Management Information System Department. And almost right away, a plea deal has been announced in the case.
Two of them are former MIS employees Jonathan Lippert and Jason Wianecki. Emil Devcic a vendor, was also charged. They’re accused of taking part in a scheme that used up to $240,000 to buy and sell electronics.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Dan Kaminsky says all three have reached plea agreements that include prison or jail time and restitution, which is contingent on their cooperation in the prosecution of several others, along with the judge’s approval. Each could serve up to eight years confinement, with nearly ten years of extended supervision and three years of probation.
The city will recover $85,000, along with a commitment for $160,000 total through the first three agreements.
All three are expected in court in early August. Charges against three others are currently being pursued.
