Just seconds before a fatal crash on Madison east side a police officer verbally warned the suspect's car to slow down. Captain Tom Snyder says the officer had been responding to a domestic call and after noticing the car making an evasion maneuver, yelled for the car to slow down. Little did police know that minors were behind the wheel and the car was stolen. Snyder says the keys were taken from the owner possibly during a burglary a few days prior.

Police say two boys, ages 14 and 15, were fighting over control of the steering wheel when they lost control sideswiping a parked car then crashing into an SUV. They along with a female fled on foot but were caught shortly thereafter.

The males face a number of charges from the Friday night crash, including negligent homicide for the death of 14-year-old Dionna Cook.

Two other girls among the four riding in back were severly hurt. A 15-year-old girl has life threatening injuries. While a 13-year-old girl's wounds are critical, she is expected to recover.

A fund has been set up for Cook's family. Donations can be made at any Amcore bank.
