Officials in Wood County are continuing their investigation into a bizarre abduction case in Wisconsin Rapids.

Wood County Sheriff Thomas Reichert held a press conference Friday morning, where he talked about the department's efforts so far to find out exactly what happened at the home of Edward Lanphear. The 46-year-old paper mill worker is currently in police custody on a $1 million bond. He could face charges of kidnapping and sexual assault for allegedly abducting two men in their twenties earlier this week.

The two men claim Lanphear kidnapped them and took them to his home, where they were chained up naked and sexually abused. So far, Reichert says over 100 pieces of evidence collected from the home corroborates their story. He says chains and other restraints are among the items police have found so far.

Reichert says there's no reason to believe the victims are making this up.

Authorities are currently just investigating this case, but the next step will be an exhaustive look into Lanphear's life. Reichert says they plan to talk with FBI profilers to determine if Lanphear likely offended before.

Reichert says Lanphear has stopped cooperating with police and has asked for an attorney.
