Another indication the race for president is "incredibly close" in Wisconsin and throughout the Big Ten.

The poll by the UW-Madison political science department shows Big Ten states could be pivotal in the race for president. Professor David Canon says it's "extremely tight" in seven of the eight states in the conference.

In Wisconsin, Barack Obama leads John McCain by a narrow margin of 45 to 44 percent. Obama has a commanding lead in his home state of Illinois, but it's very close in the rest of the Big Ten.
