Another poor performance by the starting pitching and the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-5 in Philadelphia.

Mike Fiers (1-4) last just 1 2/3 innings and the Brewers trailed 7-0 after just 2-innings of play.

On the other side, Cliff Lee (7-2) was nearly untouchable through the first seven innings.  Lee allowed three hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks before running into some trouble in the 8th when the Brewers scored four runs.

Antonio Bastardo earned his first save in three chances, working a sketchy 9th inning.  Jeff Bianchi got the Brewers to within 2-runs with a rbi single.  The Brewers then loaded the bases with 2-outs but pinch-hitter Martin Maldonado flied out to end the game.

The Brewers still managed to take 2 of 3 in the series.  They’ll hos the Oakland A’s at Miller Park tonight.  Oakland comes to Milwaukee having won 9 of 11 after a 2-0 victory over the White Sox on Sunday.
