Reaction to the release of documents from a secret John Doe investigation in Milwaukee County.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate believes Governor Scott Walker knew what was going on during his 2010 campaign. “It’s just a little hard to believe that Scott Walker was totally unaware that his senior staff was breaking the law on a  regular basis.”

Tate couldn’t point to any political bomb shell coming out of the newly-released information, though, he says he needs to sift through 27,000 emails and hundreds of documents. Regarding Walker’s role in all of this, Tate says there’s guilty in the court of law, and then there is guilty but unproven.

“Much like (New Jersey Governor) Chris Christie, Governor Walker likes to stand in the middle of people committing criminal activity all around him and saying ‘I had no idea what was going on. All these people were breaking the law but I was unaware of it, I wasn’t directing it’. It’s sort of like see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”

Governor Walker had said that he didn’t think there’d be any revelations after the release of the emails. He said the Democrats will simply over hype things, but they’ll be disappointed. Walker was never charged with any wrongdoing in the John Doe case.

Meanwhile, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz highlights what Democrats call Governor Walker’s “failed leadership.” She’s in Wisconsin helping to raise money for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke’s campaign to replace Walker.

“I’m here in the state today to focus on raising the resources that Democrats need to be successful and to beat Scott Walker and elect Mary Burke as the governor of this state.”

Wasserman Schultz made her comments on a conference call with reporters at the same time Tate reacted to the just released John Doe documents.
