Lawrence University is faced with hiring a new head basketball coach for the second time in the last month.
After John Tharp left as the Lawrence University men's coach last month, Amy Proctor announced that she is stepping aside as the women's coach after 19 years at the school.
Proctor came to Lawrence in 1988, taking the Lady Vikings to the post season conference playoffs 12 times, as well as one NCAA Division 3 tournament appearance.
No coach, in any sport, has won more games at Lawrence than Proctor has in women's basketball. She has compiled a 247-192 overall record.
Lawrence University officials say a national search for Proctor's replacement will begin immediately.
