Mobile home park residents have growing concerns their land will be bought out from under them by developers. Kristen Zehner, president of the Wisconsin Manufactured Homeowners Association, says Wisconsin could easily fall victim to a national trend where residents are being forced out of their homes when the land is sold by park owners.

Wisconsin has over 1,100 mobile home parks, where most of the residents rent the land their home sits on. However, Zehner says that doesn't mean they should go without protection. She says people in any other kind of housing are granted some form of compensation when they are forced out.

Zehner is calling on lawmakers to pass a bill granting them more rights. They want better notification for residents when a park may be sold and she wants required compensation for individuals who are displaced by a sale. But so far, Zehner says they've been unable to get any lawmakers to take up their cause.
