Bond has been set at $750,000 for a Racine man accused of brutally killing his girlfriend at her home last week. Iryin Vaughn is charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and Causing Mental Harm To A Child, in connection with the murder of Gwenyvere Wright.
Interim District Attorney Rich Chiapete told a judge that Wright was stabbed 25 times, describing it as an attack “straight out of a slasher movie.” He also noted that Vaughn is awaiting trial on two other cases related to violent incidents involving the same woman.
Zachary Strother, the victim’s sister, said the family (from Illinois) was disappointed to learn Wisconsin does not have the death penalty. “That’s we was hoping for. That’s what we was praying for,” he said.
Vaughn was arrested in Illinois after an Amber Alert was issued by Racine Police for his two-year-old daughter. The alert ended without incident.
