Protesters are dogging the tracks of Republican lawmakers. Thursday, while Joint Finance Committee co-chairs, Representative Robin Vos and Senator Alberta Darling were inside the Madison Club attending a WisPolitics luncheon, about 100 protesters were outside the private downtown club. The group sang “My Darling Clementine,” in apparent reference to the recall effort against Darling, and chanted the now familiar “this is what democracy looks like.”

The ongoing protests in Madison highlight continued discontent over Governor Scott Walker’s budget repair bill which stripped most collective bargaining rights from public workers in Wisconsin, as well as Walker’s proposed two year budget bill which includes cuts to BadgerCare, decreases to shared revenues to local governments, and cuts to the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College systems.
