Some mixed feelings at the Fond du Lac Humane Society, as two dogs who were doused with bleach get ready to leave for their new homes.
Shelter Manager Renee Webb says the puppies, named Tina and Turner, were given the all-clear for adoption on Wednesday. Dozens of families applied to take home the dogs, who suffered from eye ulcers and burns. Webb says going through those applications showed many “wonderful people” who wanted to bring the dogs into their home.
An eight-year-old boy is accused of tossing bleach on Turner and spilling some on Tina, then putting Turner in a garbage bag in a dumpster. The boy’s mother is now facing criminal charges for failing to act when she knew what the boy was doing.
A third puppy from the home named Ike, who was not harmed, has been with his new family for about a week. Webb says the remaining two dogs will leave the shelter this weekend.
